AARMR offers several Training School opportunities for state regulators (General Members) throughout the year. These schools provide the opportunity to meet face-to-face with other state regulators, discuss topics of common interest, exchange ideas about challenges and solutions facing the mortgage regulation community and the industry, and to learn about new business models and approaches. These schools are open ONLY to state regulatory agencies (General Members).

Training School Overview
This 2 days of training, to be provided by Amy Leneker of The Leneker Team on behalf of the American Association of Residential Mortgage Regulators (AARMR), is designed for state regulators – current supervisors as well as senior-level examiners who may not yet be in a supervisory role.
The training will cover the following topics:

- Leading with Less Stress and More Joy
Each participant will also receive a copy of Amy’s book, “Cheers to Monday: The Surprisingly Simple Method to Lead and Live with Less Stress and More Joy.” Amy Leneker is a certified leadership trainer with over 25 years of leadership experience, including a decade in the C-suite, who has has trained more than 100,000 leaders and teams – from the public sector to the Fortune 100.
This Leadership Training is offered only to representatives of AARMR’s General Member agencies (state regulators). The in-person training includes 2 days of interactive training as described above, along with a welcome reception and two full breakfasts for a registration fee of $995 per participant. The training will begin at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, September 29 and conclude by 4:30 PM on Wednesday, September 30.

Training School Overview
This interactive virtual licensing training program provided by the American Association of Residential Mortgage Regulators was designed for both new and experienced mortgage licensing staff. Participants strengthened their understanding of the SAFE Act and explored best practices for reviewing individual MLO and company license applications.

CSBS-AARMR “Day One” Mortgage Examiner Training Available Online
A new and improved Day One: Mortgage Examiner Training is now available (as of September 2025).
Training Overview
- This comprehensive training package is designed for entry-level mortgage examiners or state agency personnel, as well as seasoned examiners needing a refresher in this area.
- Your department will be closely involved in your examiner’s progress throughout the training program. Each of the modules in the program includes On-the-Job Training (OJT) Assignments, which often require participants to discuss topics from the program to determine how your agency applies the concepts in the areas that vary from state to state.
- Estimated amount of time to successfully complete all requirements of this training program is a minimum of 120 days.
- The minimum passing score for knowledge assessments within the training is 80%.
- Successful completion of this program will allow examiners to apply for certification through CSBS at no cost.
- There is no registration fee for this course.

AARMR's Various Training School Opportunities
Basic Examiner School
The purpose of the basic school is to provide state residential mortgage regulators/examiners with a brief overview of the mortgage industry and a more comprehensive overview of the federal regulations used during mortgage banking examinations.The school will provide an understanding of the industry to new examiners and is geared towards examiners with one year or less experience examining mortgage companies.
Advanced Examiner School
The purpose of the advanced school is to provide participants with updates on federal regulations and recent trends in the mortgage industry.
Fraud School
The purpose of the fraud school is to provide participants with the skills and tools necessary to identify, understand, and document fraud in the mortgage industry.
Licensing School
The purpose of the licensing school is to provide an informational and instructional forum for State licensing staff. The school will provide attendees with the opportunity to meet face-to-face with other State licensing regulators, to discuss topics of common interest, to exchange ideas about problems and solutions facing government staffs, and to learn about new business models, new approaches to licensing issues, and the new Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS).
